About
"HopeAfterDiagnosis" supports all men facing prostate cancer, with a special commitment to educating and uplifting Black men who face higher risk and disparities

My story
I created "HopeAfterDiagnosis" because I understand firsthand how life can change in an instant after hearing the words, “You have cancer.” What begins as a diagnosis quickly becomes a journey—one filled with questions, fear, decisions, and moments of quiet strength that many people never see.
In 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 prostate cancer. For the next five years, I lived under active surveillance, enduring repeated biopsies, blood tests, and ongoing medical monitoring. While I was grateful for the opportunity to closely manage my health, the emotional weight of waiting—never knowing what the next appointment might reveal—was often just as challenging as the physical process.
Over time, my cancer progressed. After thoughtful conversations with my doctor and careful reflection on my options, I made the decision to undergo a radical prostatectomy in 2025.
This experience shaped my purpose. HopeAfterDiagnosis was created not only to share my story, but to offer encouragement, awareness, and support to other men facing prostate cancer—and to the caregivers and loved ones walking beside them. My goal is to remind others that even in uncertainty, strength can rise, community matters, and hope can still exist.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide a compassionate, inclusive, and education-centered space for men impacted by prostate cancer—while maintaining a focused commitment to addressing the disproportionate burden experienced by Black men—and for the families and caregivers who support them. Through trusted, evidence-based resources, shared lived experiences, and community connection, Hope After Diagnosis advances awareness, informed decision-making, emotional resilience, and equitable access to support across every stage of the cancer journey.
We are committed to reducing isolation, strengthening support systems, and promoting earlier detection and clearer preparation, so that every individual navigating diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, or recovery feels supported, empowered, and never alone—even in uncertainty.

Vision Statement
Our vision is a future where every man facing prostate cancer—regardless of race, background, or circumstance—has access to clear information, timely screening, compassionate support, and equitable care. We envision communities where disparities are reduced, early detection is prioritized, families are strengthened, and no one navigates cancer without guidance, dignity, and hope.
